Description

Josh Clement-Sutcliffe leads AI and automation at Zencargo, the digital freight forwarder, where he built the orchestration layer that reads incoming shipping messages, works out what they mean, and moves shipments along on its own. He is refreshingly honest about how they got there: the early sunk-cost projects, the realisation that you have to fix messy, multi-language data before you automate anything, and the shift from automating the easy path to solving the hard problem first. His line for the day is 'automate the workflow, not the headcount', and he means it, his team moved from data entry to handling exceptions and relationships. For anyone weighing build versus buy, or worried about auditability, he gives the unvarnished version.
